Alt Rock Classic: Superunknown (1994) by Soundgarden

Superunknown is the fourth studio album by American rock band Soundgarden, released on March 8, 1994. It's said to be the breakthrough album of the band. It received a nomination in the Best Rock Album category for the 1995 Grammy Awards. The songs on Superunknown captured the metal influences of the band's previous works while showing the group's newly evolving style. Soundgarden used alternate tunings and odd time signatures on several of the album's songs. "Black Hole Sun" was performed in drop D tuning while "Mailman" and "Limo Wreck" were performed CGDGBe tuning. Especially ''Black Hole Sun'' was one of the hits of the album. With its surreal video clip and lyrics, the alternate tuning and the slow style of Soundgarden pulled millions of listeners into the song.
