Leprous released their new single “Castaway Angels” today!

The single is surprisingly different than the rest of the band’s discography. It is based on Einar’s astounding high pitched vocals and a mellow acoustic guitar melody. The bulk of the song was written by Einar and TorO in an unplugged jam session. Then the band came together and recorded it in one take!

This “start simple and build on top” approach is also apparent in the structure. The song starts out very slowly with as little layers as possible, and builds up into a full-band chorus. While I didn’t have such a sound in mind when staring at the “20 minutes to release” sign on YouTube, I was more than happy with the approach they took. Definitely one of the better releases of the year!
