A Must-Listen: "Lamb of God" (2020)

After a 5-year gap, and the loss of their drummer Chris Adler, Lamb of God came up with a crazy, dynamic sound, their self-titled record. “Lamb of God” is definitely a great move for “New Wave of American Heavy Metal”, it has a lot to understand from the lyrics. It is a great piece of heavy metal work, keeping the adrenaline up and not disappointing the fans that love earlier works from the band, like “Sacrament” and “Wrath”; also a great comeback after “VII: Sturm Und Drang”. “Memento Mori” is a great introduction to the album, it’s “a reminder to not be consumed by the omnipresent electronic harbingers of doom that surround us” as Randy Blythe describes, basically telling us to “wake up” and see the physical world around us, which as kind of tough these days. Randy Blythe had so much to say, so much to shout out, you can see the political complaints and pointing out a lot of things with the aggressive growls. Besides the lyrics, heavy riffs from Morton and Adler, and basslines from Campbell will give you a neck-ache. We can see Art Cruz had an outstanding performance after the departure of Chris Adler, “New Colossal Hate” takes attention to the drums, along the groove metal-reminding riffs and Blythe talking about immigrants, theming violence and hatred. Jamey Jasta adds a different taste to “Poison Dream” when combined with Blythe’s heavy growls. Let’s not forget Chuck Billy’s great work in “Routes”, adding a bit more thrashy sound to the song. We make sure that you'll end up headbanging like crazy to these tracks.
