Happy Birthday, Mel Collins!

73 years ago Melvyn Desmond "Mel" Collins was born in the Isle of Man, on the 5th of September. He is a British saxophonist, flutist, and session musician. Collins is perhaps best known for his work in King Crimson on two separate occasions (the first from 1970 to 1972 and the second from 2013 to the present day) and having played with Camel, the Alan Parsons Project, and Chris Squire. Even though he is generally focused on playing prog, he has also worked in a wide variety of contexts ranging from R&B and blues-rock to jazz. He played with Dire Straits on their live album, Alchemy, and toured with Roger Waters to support the album The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking.
