Adam Jones' Career in Hollywood

Adam Jones is famous for his guitar skills within Tool, but most do not know about his work as a visual artist. Before joining the band, Jones actually had a quite different job in Hollywood. He worked in the set design and makeup departments of countless significant films including “Jurassic Park,” “Ghostbusters II” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child.” For “A Nightmare on Elm Street 5,” Jones designed the makeup of Freddy Krueger in the womb, but he wasn’t only doing makeup: he also made use of his sculpting skills for the movie “Predator 2” to form a skull for the Predator’s spaceship. These designs certainly inspired Tool’s visuals, and as Jones directed the videos of Schism, Parabola, Stinkfist, and several others, it’s not hard to see the impact of his talent and creativity.

During the release of his signature guitar, he showcased his talent once more by preparing an animated short film called "The Witness," to which his bandmates Justin Chancellor and Danny Carey contributed in terms of the music. The video is, similar to many of Tool’s music videos, surreal and imaginative. His artistry surely isn't limited to music!
